Does anyone here have problems when adding sugar to the Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker?

The instruction booklet tells you can add sugar to the basket with tea, but when I do that sugar ends up in a bunch and tea in the pitcher is small and light in color. I tried adding sugar to tea began dipping, but it still does not work right. And if I wait and add the sugar, After the tea is finished brewing it does not dissolve as they should because the tea got cold ice this time. Put the sugar in the pitcher. Keep out of the ice until after the brewing process. Stir the hot tea with sugar then add ice. The sugar will dissolve. Or you can make a simple syrup by dissolving 1 / 2 cup sugar 1 / 2 cup hot water. Stir until dissolved and add this to your brewed tea.
